about

With the Table Scraps EP, Catbath fills in the blanks of their previous two full length albums that you didn't know were there. Recorded at various times and locations since the band’s formation in 2013, this is a collection of odds and ends. These tracks were without a clear destination until now, and when put together on an EP, they create a world of their own. Aside from a few sugary moments of poppy relief to break the ice, such as the mid EP bopper “Fishbowl,” the album mostly showcases a much heavier and grungier side of the Catbath universe. This is the last release of songs written and recorded with former bassist/vocalist Kristin Kosieracki, who left the band in 2019.

The release of the Table Scraps EP marks a pivotal moment within the band. Danielle Cusack, whom the band admired for years, is stepping into the bass and vocals position. Danielle brings experience from some awesome Minneapolis-based bands such as Bruise Violet, Scrunchies, and Tony Peachka. The combination of a new line up, a pandemic forcing a long break from live shows, and a deluge of song ideas, gave the band a unique opportunity for a fresh start and a year of fruitful creativity. Catbath will be entering the studio at the end of December 2020 to record the next full length album, consisting of all unheard material. It felt fitting to release Table Scraps now, just before the band enters the studio, as a loving farewell to an era. This EP marks the closing of one chapter before the next one begins.
